Woman’s body found in Newcastle property after concerns of welfare

THE body of a woman has been found after police officers attended a North East property over the weekend that were concerned for the person’s safety.

Emergency services were called to Lesbury Street in Lemington at around 4.15pm on Saturday (June 11) after receiving reports of a woman that lived on the street that neighbours were worried about.

After attending the scene, Northumbria Police have since confirmed that they found a dead body within the property.

The death isn’t being treated as suspicious, and the police force are preparing a report for the coroner.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 4.15pm on Saturday (June 11) we received a report of concern for the welfare of a woman inside an address on Lesbury Street, Lemington.

“Emergency services attended and found a woman deceased inside.

“An investigation was subsequently launched into her death and officers are currently treating it as non-suspicious. A report will be made for the coroner.”

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We were called to a private address in the Lemington area of Newcastle shortly after 4pm on 11 June, following concerns for a woman’s welfare. We dispatched one ambulance crew.”
