Teen arrested in West Midlands after girl, 15, ‘dragged and raped in the sea’

A teenager has been arrested after he allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl in the sea at Bournemouth beach. The man, 18, has been accused of dragging her into the water and raping her.

The alleged attack happened at about 4pm on July 18, 2021 on a busy day in Bournemouth, Dorset. The teen was detained by police in the West Midlands before being released on bail.

The girl was at the beach with her friends when she claims her ball landed in front of a man who then threw it back. The man then allegedly used this to start a conversation with his alleged victim before allegedly dragging her deeper out to sea and raping her, reports the Mirror.

The alleged attack happened on one of the hottest days of the year. Thousands had flocked to the beach on that day, July 18.

Dorset Police said the West Midlands man has been released on police bail while inquiries continue. Det Insp Wayne Seymour, from Dorset Police, said: “We have continued to support the alleged victim and her family throughout this investigation and they have been updated with this latest development.”
